Molly Sutherland, an assistant professor of Biological Sciences, was recently awarded a $2 million NIH “Maximizing Investigators’ Research” (MIRA) (R35) grant to study cytochromes c — iron-containing proteins (hemeproteins) based in the cell’s mitochondrion that shuttle electrons from one protein complex to another.
