Navigating the Federal Transition
Resources for Pursuing Non-Federal Research Support
As the federal funding landscape continues to evolve, we encourage you to be proactive in exploring other potential avenues for research support. Here are several UD teams and resources to aid you:
UD Resources
- The Research Development team in the Research Office serves as a partner to principal investigators (PIs) and facilitates all the scaffolding necessary to take your idea from concept to proposal development, submission and beyond. The team targets a variety of sponsors including federal and state agencies, corporations, foundations and philanthropic organizations. Contact: UD Research Office
- UD is currently engaged with Hanover Research who authors a bimonthly non-federal research grants calendar. This resource can help to map out grant opportunities with focus areas including: STEM, medical, humanities, education, multidisciplinary and much more. For additional non-federal resources developed by Hanover Research we encourage you to visit their website and establish an account please. When prompted for your referral code use: YoUDeeGLC
- In response to recent shifts in federal research funding—including widespread cancellations of National Science Foundation (NSF) grants— The Spencer Foundation, in collaboration with the Kapor Foundation, the William T. Grant Foundation, and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, have launched a rapid response bridge grant program. This funding opportunity is designed to support scholars and research teams whose NSF grants were recently terminated.
- Be sure to explore the Funding Opportunities and Limited Submissions webpages on the Research Office website, as well as the Foundations database, a tool to discover and research foundations’ giving history, available through the UD Library.
- Pivot, a database of funding opportunities worldwide and across all disciplines, also is available through the UD Library. Funders include government, foundations, the commercial and private sector, and professional associations. You can create an account to receive weekly funding alerts, save lists of funding opportunities, search for potential collaborators and more.
