As a top Military Friendly School with longstanding Defense Department research in areas ranging from physical rehabilitation to advanced materials, UD is deeply committed to Delaware’s veterans. UD and the Wilmington VA Medical Center (WVAMC) signed an Associated Health Education Affiliation agreement on June 9, 2017. Since then, UD and WVAMC have partnered to innovate care for military veterans and open new avenues for research in Delaware. WVAMC is now a partner institution serving on the Delaware INBRE Steering Committee, led by UD. UD, WVAMC, and Delaware State University have partnered on a data science initiative with the aim of establishing WVAMC as a living laboratory for studying veteran health services and outcomes. UD students now can now be co-mentored by a UD researcher and WVAMC clinician to learn about conducting research with and on behalf of veterans.
