ABOUT JOHN BYRNE
John Byrne is president of the Foundation for Renewable Energy and Environment (FREE). He was a contributing author to two assessments, and an expert reviewer on a third, for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. He is co-editor of WIREs Energy and Environment (Wiley), has published 23 books and special collections, and over 220 academic papers.
His work has been funded by the World Bank, UNEP, the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the U.S. EPA, the Chinese Academy of Science, the Energy Research Institute of China’s National Development and Reform Commission, the Korea Energy Economics Institute, the Korea Institute of Science & Technology, the Korea Institute of Energy Research, and The Energy Research Institute (TERI, New Delhi, India), among others.
He recently retired from the University of Delaware as Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Energy and Climate Policy.
