Physical Distancing and Density Requirements • I am a pre-tenure assistant professor. My lab studies chromosome structure and segregation during the specialized cell division of meiosis. We use a combination of cell biology, live imaging, biochemistry, and proteomics techniques to understand the mechanisms that contribute to sex-specific differences in chromosome structure and segregation. My lab currently consists of 10 members. For phase 1 and 2, the requested and approved working group was five (including myself). For phase 3, I would like to request that an additional three lab members return to work. This would bring the total working group for my lab to eight.
• The lab space is ~1000 square feet. To maintain the physical distancing and density requirements, no more than 5 people will be allowed in the lab space at any one time (1 person/125 sq. ft.). This will be achieved through shift work (shift 1: 8 am to 1pm and shift 2: 1pm-6pm). Lab members can sign up for shifts through our lab google drive (shared on the Biology website). Physical distancing will be maintained with each lab member assigned to their own bench space with at least 6 ft between individuals.
