Retro-orbital Blood Collection – Mouse SOP #PRO-006

This Animal Subjects in Research procedure is in place to ensure the humane and ethical treatment of animal subjects in research. Please review the material carefully before proceeding.

The mouse has a large retro orbital sinus than can be used as a source of venous blood by penetrating the sinus with a glass capillary tube.

Note: Anesthesia is required unless performing the procedure in an awake animal is justified and approved in the IACUC protocol.

Retro-Orbital Injection in Mice SOP #PRO-015

This Animal Subjects in Research procedure is in place to ensure the humane and ethical treatment of animal subjects in research. Please review the material carefully before proceeding.

This is an alternative injection route to tail vein for intravenous injections. The injectable solution is limited to 200 µl or less per injection. Injections are not to be repeated in one day, unless you alternate eyes. Injections are limited to one injection per eye per day.

Training is required prior to performing this procedure.
