Disposition of Agricultural Animals or Animal Products for Food
- SCOPE OF POLICY
The purpose of this policy is to define the circumstances that University-owned agricultural animals or animal products may be released into commercial food production
- POLICY
- The method of disposition of the animals or animal products must be approved on the IACUC protocol covering those animals
- Food animals may be sent to livestock sales or production plant disposition in accordance with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations.
- Food Animal Residue Avoidance Database (FARAD) (http://www.farad.org) and FDA regulations regarding approved drug withholding times must be followed.
