| Physical Distancing and Density Requirements | I am a pre-tenure assistant professor whose appointment began in January 2020. Laboratory experiments are the basis of my research program and my laboratory set-up has been interrupted due to the shutdown. Phase 3 access will be used to continue critical elements of laboratory set-up and to collect key preliminary data needed for a June ’21 grant submission. These activities are critical to establishing my research program. • Lab location: Wolf 347, 348, 349 • Normal working population of research group: 4 (PI, 2 graduate students, 1 undergraduate) • Phase 3 requested working population of research group will be 4 • Staff/student summary: PI, 2 graduate students, 1 undergraduate • Square feet of main research laboratory: approximately 600 sq. ft. • Occupancy of laboratory space will be 1 persons/150 sq. ft. at any one time. Each lab member has their own bench and personal equipment (pipettes, microfuge, etc) and can maintain 6 feet of social distance at all times. Common equipment (e.g. centrifuges, incubators, PCR machine) have been placed to maintain social distancing and will be cleaned between uses. All other activities, such as planning, analysis and writing will continue to take place remotely. |
